At its inception, TTT’s heartbeat was to remove every barrier that keeps teachers in underserved communities from accessing high-quality, practical training. We began in Haiti in 2011. What followed were months of writing, revising, and building materials that could strengthen classroom instruction.
Broken Barrier: Distance
As we expanded, from one location to five, from 25 to 500 teachers, there arose a barrier. Travel costs increased, so TTT adapted. Every shift came from the same conviction; if something stood between training teachers and school leaders, we had a responsibility to move it. Our present model was too costly. Ownership became essential and we invested in training local facilitators. Standardizing content improved quality so we professionally filmed our seminars. Our local partners were dedicated but securing funds to host seminars became difficult, so we knew another pivot was required.
Broken Barrier: Cost
In 2023, we pursued courage over comfort. We reimagined TTT, not as a program that sends people, not an organization that placed unnecessary financial burden on its local partners, but as a platform that removes obstacles. TTT launched digital courses, placing foundational teaching and leadership skills directly into the hands of educators. With no seminar halls, no travel, no financial barriers, a teacher or school leader in a remote village, in a refugee settlement, or a low-resource urban school could access the same training as a teacher in a well-resourced city.
Broken Barrier: Language
To deepen access, TTT duplicated the two courses into French and Spanish, allowing us to serve new communities of teachers and school leaders who had long been excluded by language alone. The courses were translated by professionals committed to the success of the learner. This shift changed our scale as well as our reach. Our courses found their way to teachers and school leaders with nothing more than a smartphone or local community computer hub. Today, TTT’s reach extends to over 100 countries around the globe.
But behind the numbers lies our heart; no teacher or school leader should be held back by geography, finances, or lack of opportunity. And no child’s future should depend on whether their teachers or school leaders can be effectively trained. TTT exists to break every barrier standing in the way of effective teaching and school leadership. Our journey has adapted, but our mission has never changed. We stand with teachers and school leaders, and we humbly offer two digital courses at no cost. All we ask if for your desired professional growth and development in return.
